“It is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver”

                                                                 – M.K. Gandhi

Human has got a lot to achieve in his life. After getting a certain things in his possession, he starts thinking of the wonder of the other “valuables” awaiting for him. There is a constant force which keeps him motivated throughout his life and this motivation can accomplish its duty when it is supported by the health of the very being.

In this hectic world of 21st century we don’t have even time to sit and think for a while atleast that where we are rushing towards. With the ‘commercialization’ of time and ‘mechanization of world, we have made ourselves slaves to the machines and thus degraded our health. It is right that machines have helped us a lot in our lives but we can’t deny the fact that it’s a spider’s web. And this web, no doubt is going to trap us until we surrender our healthy life to it.

The World Health Organization (WHO) defined health in its broader sense in 1946 as “a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” And with this definition, I, in this article will discuss about how we can keep ourselves healthy both physically and mentally. No doubt, according to Tom Stoppard “A healthy attitude is contagious but don’t wait to catch it from others. Be a carrier.” so for being a carrier here you have few steps at both the level i.e., at the mental as well as physical level to keep yourself healthy. And here you go:

At mental level:-

  • Stay happy all the time

happiness is the biggest key to stay healthy at your mental level. Reading good books, enjoying good habits like following the policy of honesty and truthfulness, having an optimistic outlook on everything, etc can really help a lot in staying happy with the most beautiful curve of your body, which is your smile. We should know the fact that your happiness can also be a key to happiness and smile for others people needing you. So, here we can satisfy the dual purpose of keeping ourselves as well as others healthy as well as happy too.

  • Pursue your hobby and passion

We should always give some time to think about the things or the works we like to do but unable to carry. Our hobbies and passion are something which gives us a sort of aesthetic pleasure in our life. When we carry on the work we like, it automatically ends up with the best we can give and thus there is positivity in our minds regarding ourselves and here we are healthy mentally.

  • Good relationships

We should be able to have good relationships in our life because it is something which is really hard to achieve. I agree that forging a relation with anyone either it be friend or any beloved is quite easier than maintaining it throughout the life. Good behavior towards the family members, friends, college-mates or any other relations give us the confidence to be social at a good level and to move further in our life.

  • Emotional Intelligence

This is the intelligence which is not only helpful in scoring good marks and clearing the exams but also helps in gaining stability in life. It helps us to control our intense feeling either it be a lot of happiness at the time of success or bad feelings at the time of failure. With this in us we can learn how to react aptly in any situations in our life. It teaches us to cope up with the stressful factors which always run behind us like a ferocious predator.

At physical level:-

  • Balanced diet

The diet which we take plays a very vital role in our lives. Healthy eating habits lead to healthy body. Green vegetables having a lot of fibres, dairy products like milk or eggs which are rich in calcium and protein respectively and fruits having high water content are very substantial to our body. Some people believe that by skipping meals or having small meals they can reduce their weight and thus become slim but this is just a myth. In fact, skipping meals is the most dangerous activity which can lead to our body’s degradation. Some researches have proven that skipping meals, breakfast particularly, enhances more chance to heart attack and various other diseases.

  • Sound sleep

To quote Thomas Dekker, “sleep is that golden chain which ties our health and bodies together.”

A sound sleep is of the utmost importance for having a sound health with a sound soul. The study reveals the fact that an adult should have atleast 7-9 hours of sleep in a day and a child should have atleast 8-10 hours of sleep in a day. It is also interesting that sleep is a good way to prevent overeating. The sleep which we have should be very calm and tranquil not fragmented or disturbed by any external factors.

  • Regular exercises

Aerobic exercises help a lot in maintaing the body structure as well as in mending the damaged tissues or muscles. The muscles developed in our exercises helps to increase our metabolism which obviously helpful in keeping us healthy. This exercise should be regular and for a fixed daily tenure including all its types like cardio-vascular exercise, sprinting, stretching, jogging, bending, yoga and meditation and all these succeeded by an appropriate warm-up first.

  • Abstaining from alcohol and drugs

Denzel Washington very well said, “I made a commitment to completely cut out drinking and anything that might hamper me from getting my mind and body together. And the floodgates of goodness have opened upon me- spiritually and financially” So, with these words of his, we can understand very well that how much it is important to us for being a teetotaler in our life. Drugs and alcohol are something which slow down the process undergoing in our brain through our nerves present in the body. In short, they disturb our coordination which is absolutely destructive for us. We should totally abstain from any sort of drugs and alcohol. It is a kind of vice which leads us to an eternal damnation and perdition.

So, friends these are some easy and common steps which we can take in our lives to get a healthy lifestyle and to leave our life without any fear of future problems because if you are healthy then you can cope up with any trauma our torture but if in case you are not then no matter how much money you have, you can’t avail anything from it which can bring happiness to you and so that you can enjoy it.
