Tasty and Healthy Smoothie Recipes RTP

Everybody is in rush to take up the next healthy lifestyle fad. In that list of healthy trends, smoothie is a clear star. These have been around for some years now and now a whole generation of blenders and other food processing units have come up just to ensure that you can make a perfectly healthy and consistent smoothie. Even juice companies have started selling smoothies as much as they sold juices. The advertising agencies are having a field day too. For those of you, who would like to try out this trend too or those who are already following it, this article will really help you. I have collected some fun and tasty smoothie recipes that will not only make your mouth water but keep you healthy too.

  1. Green Smoothie

This is a standard green smoothie that everyone out there is making and drinking. This green concoction promises to drastically improve your health when it is drunken everyday and sometimes even twice a day. All you have to do is, get two medium-sized ripe bananas, one ripe apple or pear and two cups full of kale leaves. After adding this to your blending machine, pour in half a cup of orange juice and half a cup of water. Make sure that both of them are cool. Ground flaxseed and add one tablespoon to the mixture. Blend these contents well to get a smooth green smoothie. This recipe is very good for all those who want to control their diet. It is low on calories, fat, cholesterol and sodium. This gluten-free recipe has high fibre content that works your digestion system perfectly. The high potassium level keeps you healthy. This recipe is especially good for the heart, so blend well and enjoy your green smoothie.

  1. Raspberry Avocado Smoothie

This smoothie is low on calories, saturated fat, sodium and cholesterol. It has a high dose of potassium, fibre and is gluten-free. So those of you watching your weight or suffering from diabetes can try this out without an issue. Peel and pit one whole avocado and put it in your blender. Then add about three-fourths of a cup of raspberry juice and three-fourths of a cup of orange juice. Next come half a cup of frozen raspberries. Make sure they are not thawed so that your blender chops into neat pieces that add some crunch without making them soggy.

  1. Banana Smoothie

This is a high fibre, gluten-free recipe. Since bananas inherently have a lot of fat, it is not for weight watchers (those who want to lose weight). There is negligible cholesterol, sodium in this drink but it is high on calcium content. To make this smoothie, get two ripe bananas (with peal). Add two cups of vanilla kefir to this along with tastemakers- half a teaspoon of cinnamon, one-eighth of a teaspoon of nutmeg and one-eighth of a teaspoon of allspice. Make sure that these tastemakers are ground well before they are added. Add ten to twelve ice cubes to this mixture to make a fun, iced smoothie.

  1. Pomegranate and Berry Smoothie

This is a cool smoothie for those hot summer days and of course it is great for your health too. Fill your blender with one medium sized banana, one cup of pomegranate juice (fresh or store bought) and two cups full of frozen berries (mixed variety). To this wonderfully healthy mixture, add half a cup of non-fat cottage cheese (cheese with fat will just spoil the essence of the drink) and half a cup of water (to dilute it). Blend them together to get a rich, creamy, magenta-coloured healthy smoothie. This drink has very few calories and low fat which makes it ideal for those who want to lose weight. High fibre give s it volume and makes it a wholesome drink. Low cholesterol and sodium levels in the drink make it even healthier for your body.

  1. Clean Breeze Smoothie

This smoothie is again one for the weight watchers and diabetes afflicted drinkers. It has all the standard smoothie qualities- low calories, low fat, low cholesterol, high fibre, low sodium and gluten free- which make it excellent even for your heart. In order to make this extremely healthy drink, chop a small cucumber into small pieces. Mix that with two kiwis which are peeled, followed by one cup of ginger-flavoured kombucha. Add this to mixture to a blender. Pour half a cup of low-fat, plain yogurt with 2 tablespoons of cilantro leaves. Mix all of these ingredients with about six to eight ice cubes. The cilantro leaves add a very distinctive taste to the drink and makes it even more enjoyable.

Once you know the smoothie that you want to make, ensure that all the ingredients are fresh and thoroughly washed so that there is no trace of pesticides or dirt on it. Blend your smoothie well so that there are no chunks of food in it. Food chunks spoil the experience of smoothies. More importantly, they do not give you the right mix of flavours which is essential for any smoothie to taste well. You must remember that a smoothie works on a delicate balance of ingredients , so recipes should be followed carefully.
