People Rally Around Olivia Newton-John After She Announces Third Cancer Diagnosis

Olivia Newton-John is once again battling cancer, making this her third diagnosis in three decades.

The Grease superstar revealed the news in an interview with Sunday Night. There, the singer disclosed that she was told in 2017 that she had cancer in her lower back and was treating it with “modern medicines and natural remedies,” including medicinal marijuana.

The actress had previously fought breast cancer back in 1992. She received chemotherapy and got a partial mastectomy to combat the disease. The 69-year-old found out the cancer had returned in 2013 after discovering a lump on her right shoulder following a minor traffic accident.

“I’m one of millions in this fight, in this journey,” Newton-John explained on the program. “A lot of people see it as a fight and wherever you choose to see it, that’s your prerogative … I see it as part of my mission, maybe.”

Through it all, the actress says her husband, John Easterling, has been a tremendous support system in her life and is helping her stay as positive as she can.

“I’d be lying if it said I never go there, there are moments, I’m human,” she admitted. “So if I allow myself to go there, I could easily create a big fear, but my husband’s always there, and he’s always there to support me and I believe I will win over it, and that’s my goal.”

Upon hearing the news of Newton-John’s third diagnosis, fans began pouring out kind words of encouragement.
