Jamie Lynn Spears Goes Brunette for ‘Sweet Magnolias’
It’s been a while since we’ve talked about Jamie Lynn Spears. The younger sister of Britney Spears set out to make a name for herself as a teen when she starred in the hit Nickelodeon series Zoey 101, starting in 2005. She went on hiatus after becoming a mom, but reemerged in 2013 with a country music EP, The Journey. Now, at 28, she’s poised to make an acting comeback with a role in the upcoming Netflix series Sweet Magnolias. What better way to mark that new venture than with a new hair look?
We’ve only ever known Spears with bright blonde hair. You could say it’s a family signature:
That’s why her followers were pretty shocked when she revealed a totally new hair color. This time, she’s a light brunette with touches of blonde—it’s almost a reverse ombré look, lighter on the top and darker on the bottom. She got the dye job in preparation for playing her Sweet Magnolias character Noreen.
“Mama’s going back to work y’all 🎬🎥Can’t wait for y’all to meet ‘Noreen’!! I fell in love with this story, and so excited I get to be a part of telling it,” she wrote on Instagram.
Sweet Magnolias is based on Sherryl Woods’ novel of the same name. It follows three friends from childhood in the small town of Serenity, South Carolina. According to Deadline, Spears’ character, Noreen Fitzgibbons, is “a young woman who came to Serenity to work as a nurse. After a sequence of bad choices, she is determined to build a new life in her new city.” On top of that intriguing storyline, Spears’ new look has certainly got our attention now.
