Emotions are defined as a strong feeling, such as joy or anger and an instinctive feeling as contrasted with reasoning. Emotions is a way of knowing knowledge with the help of not what the brain thinks is right but what we feel for the particular thing. We would be similar to robots and animals without emotions because we will have no clue of what to trust in every situation. We would lose interest and fun from life without the essential presence of emotions. Through exploring them and searching for the reason of their appearance we get important information about the situation. We also keep them in mind when we make decisions and through trial and error we gain experience and knowledge.
Trust is a firm belief in reliability, trust or ability of someone or something. Having the reliability and complete faith in something or someone in some particular situation or matter is called trust according to me. When we believe a fact told by someone else to be real without seeing, hearing or watching it is basically what is called to have blind trust in someone or something. The ability to acquire something that is of key importance and is needed to be known for different reasons is known as Knowledge. It is something that is only gained with time, advancement and experience. It is what you see and adapt from your surroundings.
The big question comes in the knower’s mind that why do we absolutely trust our emotions in the pursuit of knowledge with our eyes being blinded from the true knowledge which we might not see as emotions might over power them. Thus, we arise to a knowledge issue which is ‘How far is it true to say it is possible to trust anything purely through our emotions?’ The knower sometimes considers emotions as reasoning for trusting something purely on the bases of emotions.
The pragmatic nature of trust is mostly noticeable in history as an area of knowledge as it hinders in the acquisition of knowledge as we were not there in the past events to accentuate on the fact that what exactly happened at that time, we just tend to believe what the historians tell us about that event. There could also be a possibility that some particular event never happened, yet the historians’ claim that it had happened in the past.
Let’s take in consideration of war in the past years between China and Japan, China will teach history in their own favor to their young students in school whereas the same lies with Japan. When you as knower study the matter from both the countries point of view you will see that emotions are handicapping the knowers of both the countries from gaining true knowledge. The knower cannot trust what is being thought to them as he or she is not sure what is true or false. The knower should be careless in his thoughts and not fall in the trap by trusting their emotions in comprehending some knowledge that might not be right and will result in fooling the knower. When acting emotionally, one’s rationality is very weak and history can be misconstrued.
Emotions can really influence history. We all have read Shakespearean plays in our school life and Shakespeare’s plays and works are the most renounced in the world today but he was actually a Jewish woman who had disguised to get her work published in Elizabethan London, where original literature from women was not acceptable, an expert has contended. The woman, Amelia Bassano Lanier Bassano, was of Italian descent and lived in England. She has been known only as the first woman to publish a book of poetry which was Salve Deus Rex Judaeorum in 1611 and as a candidate for ‘the dark lady’ referred to in the sonnets, daily Ha’aretz reported. It is always said that Shakespeare was a man but this fact that he is a woman is totally contradictory to what we have known for so many years. We don’t know whether he was a man or women, we don’t know his gender know as we don’t know which claim to believe and trust in such a situation. We can’t time travel to the past and really check what his true gender was. It is possible that he was a female and wanted to get her work published by a man’s name so that people in the society read, see and appreciate his work and there are even chances that in the past years enemies or rivals of Shakespeare must have simple made false claims as rumors that he is a women and now that might be coming out to us years later. This is very complicated as we feel that he is was man but then there are statements that he was women so we don’t know what piece of information to trust.
Haven’t you been told that math has certain rules and regulations that have to be followed as in axioms and the basic foundation of mathematics? We have been studying facts about math ever since our early days of school life and we apply it even now in our daily life as well but who told us two added to two equals four and the whenever something is assumed to be infinity but why do we believe that infinity actually exists when we don’t even know what is the true value of infinity. Why do we consider pie to be twenty- two divided by seven or 3.14 approximately? But yet we r uncertain about its true value yet we use it in many places like to find the circumference and area and volume of a circle.
Art is the most complicated area of knowledge as it spreads different types of messages and meanings to different people. Like some people believe that abstract art is only 4% better than what a kid could do, for these knower’s their knowledge in understanding the beauty of abstract art. But, there are some people who admire abstract art and try to find different meanings in the painting or whichever piece of abstract art is displayed. Thus, in this area of knowledge the emotions can be trusted or not trusted in the pursuit of knowledge as that depends on every individual’s perception of that art as beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.
While pursuing knowledge one needs to be open to new ideas and challenges which have the ability to change their perspective on what they know by using what they have learnt. Since personal perception and emotions can impede learning quality information sometime I would say they cannot be trusted all the time but sometimes they can be trusted only if they have reasoning behind it to be makes that knowledge true.
