Weddings are the most important days of all women (brides), do we doubt that? Any bride-to-be’s out there? I hope this article is particularly helpful to you all!
A wedding, for a bride, is much more than tying a knot with a man. It is about looking perfect, being amazingly happy, being beautiful– all for the man she is marrying. So yes, weddings are stressful. The decorations, the food, the seating plans, the guests, the venue, the menu. There is just so much to do. The bride wants to look perfectly beautiful for every single function, have a prettiest jewellery, the best make up artist, the most gorgeous clothes. Talking about Indian weddings, what functions do we have:
– An engagement party
– Cocktails and musical night
– The wedding
– The Reception
India has a huge range of tradition. So many different religions. So many different ceremonies. The bride wants to look amazing for all the functions. She feels all the stress, too. She has to leave her family and join a new one. There are countless appointments to attend. So many beauty treatments. The list, even for the bride, is never ending. All projects wind up, but the most important ones are the ones I would like to talk about!
India has been really improving on the fashion front. We see so many brilliant designers these days. Here is a list of some amazing designers who have had my full attention for quite a while now-
1) Tarun Tahiliani
I ask you, is there anything better than a mix of tradition and modernism? Mr. Tahiliani’s creations are a dream for every bride. The clothes are so beautiful and culturally rich. The colors are so vibrant. I personally love all his designs. Even non bridal clothes by him are amazing. The most recent anarkali I spotted was the black and white anarkali that Dia Mirza wore for a comedy show recently. All the dresses ooze charm and make us fall in love immediately.
2) Manish Malhotra
Most of the people know him as the amazing designer who did Kareena Kapoor Khan’s wedding clothes. He is another gem of the Indian fashion industry. Be it Sarees or Lehengas or Suits- Manish Malhotra’s work plays dangerously with culture and all his creations have a certain edge to them.
3) Anita Dongre
I love her clothes! They are vibrant and full of life. The embroidery is so beautiful. There are no words for her bridal creations. The, for me, reflect the true image of the Indian woman, the Indian bride. Her bridal pieces make me fall in love with Indian culture even more.
4) Sabyasachi Mukherjee
The Talented man I have had an eye on ever since I started developing my ‘Indian Fashion Sense’. What we fail to understand is that Indian clothes are exquisite. Yes, they may be uncomfortable to wear every single day. But what we forget is that special things are worn only for special occasions and Mr. Mukherjee’s clothes should be a definite addition to your ‘special day’ wardrobe.
5) Satya Paul
I personally adore the sarees! All the clothes are to die for. When I was younger, there were days when I would just stand outside a Satya Paul store and see the windows. The models draped in such pretty clothes. Just looking at the decked up windows made me happy. Satya Paul’s clothes bring happiness. Period. They are so, so, so pretty. Every bride has to visit the store at least once! It is a must to have at least one or two pieces from this store in your trousseau!
6) Ritu Kumar
There was a time when my mother bought a kurta from this very designer, 20 years back, for Rs. 150! Look how times change. I love her stores, the bridal section. I went there recently for helping out a friend who is getting married soon and the store just blew my mind. Such pretty creations. I run out of words when I see something so amazing! It is like a bride’s heaven. Such exquisite clothes! The lehengas and the anarkalis are gorgeous! She started out in Amritsar and is now a world renowned name.
SO! Here is the list of 6 desigeners who have caught my eye. The list is endless but these are the ones that come to my mind when I think ‘bride’! We see so many up and coming designers these days that we can keep on adding names to this list and actually make it endless. For the bride, the right clothes are so important. The bride should dress to kill! It is her day and she should look perfect. I hope this list helped. My love for Indian clothes is undying. The clothes, the embroidery, the stories that keep piece tells us. It is all so enchanting. The bride should be her happiest on her wedding and having these clothes, according to me, is half the battle won!!
