There are millions of books out there. Some books stand apart. They always manage to teach us something different. These are the books we can read many times. Some are engaging, some are inspirational and some just strike a chord in your heart.

1) You can win by Shiv Khera

“Winners don`t do different things, they do things differently” 

This book works like magic in boosting your confidence. It has simple language and you don`t need to refer to a dictionary while reading this. The best part is how the writer manages to convey each message with a small story. The quotations are wonderful. Everyone must have this book in their collection even if you are not a bibliophile. This book can teach you all the life lessons- how to prepare to succeed, how to get rid of pessimistic attitude and will make you realize that self help books actually help!


2) Gone with the wind by Margaret Mitchell

It is a classic and some people might find it boring. But this book is worth giving a shot. The story revolves around Scarlett O Hara. How she is a non conformist and does what she wants to do. All goes well until she meets Rhett Butler, a guy she hates from the core of her heart and how she ends up falling in love with him. The book is engaging with the background of a war and Negro slavery. It will give the insight into what went through the white and black people when the Negroes were given the right to vote. A version you don`t get to read in history books. This book is a fast read, although being a classic. The book gives you a shock when the famous line comes, “Frankly my dear, I don`t care!”

3) Veronica decides to die by Paulo Coelho

This book describes the theme of suicide in a funny and light manner in starting two pages. Everyone must have thought of killing oneself at one time or another. Veronica is just like us. When she has nothing new in her life, she decides to end it. The book then describes her stay in a mental institution. That part will make you wonder- who to call sane and who to call insane? Where to draw the line? In today`s society anyone who has different opinions is considered mad. You should be different otherwise what will be the difference between you and the rest millions. The book, in the end, will tell you just how valuable life is. There is no reason so painful to end it. You will always find a reason to live life happily.

He decides to stand up for himself and is declared an outcast. He tries flying a thousand times but fails. He falls down, he is injured but he never loses his spirit. When he learns the magic of flying, he goes back to the same flock to teach them. He has no hatred in his heart. The book is truly inspiring. It teaches us to follow our heart, no matter what the outer voices say. You just got to have a dream, so big that it scares you, so big that others think you are crazy. The next step is to believe and work towards achieving it. When you succeed, return to the same people who doubted you and forgive them. The special part about the book is the numerous photographs of seagulls. It feels like we ourselves are standing on the beach.


5) The Monk who sold his Ferrari

This book is an essential one in today`s time. Julian is a rich lawyer with expensive cars, suits and a house. He is at the peak of his profession yet he is unhappy. Many people would relate to Julian. They need to read this book in order to figure out their mistakes. Money won`t get you your youth back. The book teaches us the path to happiness in few simple steps. The best part of the book is that all the techniques are practical. You can practice them at your home. You don`t need to become a sage and meditate in Himalayas. There are simple meditation techniques and also ways to make life more peaceful. How the small things like rain, laughter of a child and sunset can give us more happiness than a wad of notes. The quotes are worth putting on your walls!
